Job description

The Applications Support Senior Manager is a Senior Vice President role accountable for leading a professional team within the Data - Production Management group. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas within the Global Markets Regulatory Support function interact to achieve business objectives. As a leader, you will direct a team responsible for ensuring the stability and data quality of critical regulatory platforms, ensuring Citi's compliance with global initiatives such as MiFID II, Dodd Frank, and Volcker.

You will be a critical partner to the Securities, Markets, Banking and Functions (SMBF) business, ensuring seamless platform operation and delivering a world-class client experience in a supportive environment with clear opportunities for progression. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management: Provide full management responsibility for a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget, and planning.

This includes performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Operational Excellence: Drive improvements in the service level provided to end-users by maximizing operational efficiencies, strengthening incident and problem management, and enhancing knowledge sharing practices. Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement frameworks for managing application capacity, throughput, and latency.

Define and implement application on-boarding guidelines and standards. Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions. Manage vendor relationships, including oversight for all offshore managed services.

Participate in business review meetings, relating technology strategies to business requirements. Technical Guidance: Guide development teams on application stability and supportability improvements. Lead the team in applying engineering, innovation, and automation to enhance system reliability and performance.

Continuous Improvement: Drive cost reductions and efficiencies through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), knowledge management, performance tuning, and user training. Risk & Compliance: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. Ensure adherence to all support processes and drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Mentorship: Coach team members on maximizing their potential, working effectively in a highly integrated team environment, and focusing on their strengths. Qualifications & Required Skills Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in an Application Support or Production Support Operations role is essential, with commensurate experience in people management. Leadership & Soft Skills: Senior-level experience in managing and influencing senior stakeholders.

Strong project management skills with demonstrable results in improving IT services. Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to quickly learn, take initiative, and work effectively under stress and time constraints.

Proven ability to plan and organize workloads for a team. Strong commercial awareness and experience with capacity planning and forecasting is a plus. Required Technical Skills: Operating Systems: Proficient in UNIX/Linux/Big Data environments.

Scripting & Programming: Advanced scripting, automation, and debugging skills (Shell Scripting, Perl, PowerShell, Python). Experience with Java or other programming languages (C, C#, .Net, HTML5). Databases: Good SQL experience (Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL) and advanced SQL query writing/debugging skills for Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB

Experience with data analytics and reporting. Hadoop/Big Data Platforms: Working knowledge of the Cloudera distribution (HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, YARN, Sentry, Oozie, Kafka). Experience in analyzing bottlenecks, performance tuning, and supporting applications built on Hadoop.

Monitoring, Observability & Logging: Experience with monitoring tools like ITRS Geneos, AppDynamics, GCO, and log aggregation tools such as ELK or Splunk. Cloud & APIs: Expertise in supporting ECS cloud-hosted applications and strong knowledge of REST APIs and Openshift Platforms. Middleware: Experience with middleware solutions such as Tibco EMS, MQ, or Kafka.

Scheduling: Experience with Autosys or other schedulers is an added advantage. Certifications: Cloud or Big Data platforms certifications are preferred. Education Bachelor's/University degree is required.
