The Opportunity
We are hiring a Director of Client Strategy, reporting to our Chief Integration Officer. At Compass, this is a high-impact player-coach role designed for a people operations professional who thrives at the intersection of complex problem-solving and people development. As a member of the Company Leadership Team, you won't just execute the vision-you will help shape the team that delivers it.
You will lead a team of consultants and manage a sophisticated client book, billing 1350 hours annually, ensuring that our delivery remains as extraordinary as the brands we represent.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
  • Contribute directly to the Compass growth roadmap, internal process innovation, and the evolution of our service lines.
  • Directly manage and mentor a team of HR Strategy Consultants, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in dignity, respect, and professional growth.
  • Manage weekly and annual billable and utilization targets for direct reports, allocating work to best utilizing our team regularly.
  • Oversee a complex portfolio of accounts, serving as the ultimate strategic architect for their most critical people and integration challenges.
  • Maintain a strong delivery presence by delivering hands-on, consultative services that demonstrate the gold standard of Compass expertise.
  • Handle client requests in at least 70% of the pick list outlined below, understanding when you need to complete these deliverables yourself and when these deliverables need to be delegated throughout the team based on bandwidth and experience:

Experience and Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of twelve years of progressive HR/Talent/Organizational Development experience required, experience as a Director or higher within a consulting organization or an in-house HR team highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage and deliver on regular client requests in at least 70% of the areas listed in the pick list outlined below:

  • Past demonstrated experience moving seamlessly between high-level management and tactical, client-facing execution required.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • This is a full-time role that requires intuition and flexibility for up to 30% travel. You know when a face-to-face moment is what is needed to drive a project home.

Additional Information
Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and domain expertise, plus eligibility for bonus incentives.
