Job description

At Basepoint Building Automations, we don't just install control systems—we create smarter, more efficient buildings.

We're growing and looking for a Client Consultant who serves as a trusted advisor to commercial clients while driving both new installation and service sales for automatic door and access solutions. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing long-term client relationships, and growing Basepoint's presence within the commercial construction and facility markets.

As a Client Consultant, you will manage a portfolio of both new and existing clients, focusing on a 3-6+ month sales cycle and project values ranging from $1k to $500k . You’ll thrive in this role if you have a background in construction or a related field and can demonstrate success in balancing both new business development and client relationship management.

This role is responsible for consultative selling of Door Solutions, preparing competitive bids for new construction and retrofit projects, and developing strong relationships with general contractors, design-build firms, architects, facility owners, and property managers while maintaining awareness of upcoming construction projects, capital improvement plans, and funding opportunities. The position works closely with internal engineering and project management teams to ensure successful project delivery and long-term customer satisfaction.

*Salary Range: $65,000-$100,000+ annually (base + uncapped commission)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities for automatic door, access control, and integrated door solutions within assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, design-build firms, architects, building owners, property managers, and other key decision-makers.
  • Identify upcoming construction projects, capital improvement plans, renovation opportunities, and funding initiatives to position Basepoint early in the sales cycle.
  • Research project pipelines, understand who is involved in upcoming projects, and develop strategies to become the preferred Door Solutions partner.
  • Prepare estimates, proposals, and competitive bids for new construction, retrofit, modernization, and replacement projects.
  • Manage the complete sales process from prospecting through project award and customer handoff.
  • Develop long-term relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for additional installations, upgrades, repairs, and recurring service agreements.
  • Sell maintenance agreements, preventative maintenance programs, repairs, and modernization solutions that generate recurring revenue.
  • Work closely with Project Management and Operations to ensure accurate project scope, smooth project execution, and outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize CRM software to manage sales activities, customer communications, project pipeline, forecasting, and opportunity progression.
  • Stay current on industry trends, automatic door technologies, code requirements, and competitive offerings.
  • Represent Basepoint at networking events, industry organizations, and customer meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of business development, construction sales, commercial sales, or account management experience.
  • Experience selling construction-related products or services preferred.
  • Experience working with commercial contractors, architects, facility owners, or property managers strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business while growing existing customer relationships.
  • Experience estimating commercial projects and preparing proposals preferred.
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems and managing long-term sales pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of consultative selling and complex sales cycles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify, qualify, and pursue long-term project opportunities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
