Job description

Innovative Steam Technologies (IST), a Division of Propak Systems Ltd, is the leading worldwide supplier of steam generators used in Power, Cogeneration, and Enhanced Oil Recovery applications.

The Service Project Manager is responsible for providing project management, project controls, and technical support for Service projects, including equipment repairs, inspections, commissioning, installations, and ongoing fleet support. This role supports projects from initial scope development and quotation through planning, execution, closeout, and customer reporting, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable engineering, quality, and company requirements.

The Service Project Manager works closely with customers, Service, Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and other internal and external stakeholders to coordinate successful execution of service activities. This position also provides technical and field support during equipment inspections, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair activities and may serve as IST's technical representative at customer sites.

This position reports to the Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains project execution plans for Service projects, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, materials, subcontractors, and site requirements;
  • Acts as a primary point of contact for communications between the customer, Service Department, and other IST/Propak stakeholders for assigned projects;
  • Prepares budgetary and firm-price quotations and proposal documentation using established costing tools and processes;
  • Coordinates firm-price reviews and pre- and post-deployment meetings with the Service Team and Company Management as required to review scope, schedule, risks, resources, and execution requirements;
  • Prepares Parts Requisitions and Purchase Requisitions to initiate manufacturing and procurement of materials, equipment, contractors, and other external support required for project execution;
  • Coordinates purchase specifications, subcontract documents, and technical requirements with Procurement and other departments;
  • Assists in the procurement, expediting, and delivery of engineered equipment, materials, services, tools, parts, and consumables required for Service projects;
  • Coordinates and expedites shipments of tools, parts, equipment, and consumables required for field activities;
  • Coordinates project activities with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Project Management, Field Service, and other departments to ensure order fulfillment and successful execution;
  • Ensures Service projects are executed in accordance with applicable engineering, quality assurance, safety, customer, and company requirements;
  • Develops and maintains project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and status reports;
  • Monitors project progress, percent complete, cost to date, forecast costs, and estimated cost at completion (ECAC);
  • Tracks and forecasts change orders, scope changes, and additional work and ensures project records and forecasts are updated accordingly;
  • Identifies project risks, technical concerns, schedule impacts, cost issues, and other potential problems at the earliest opportunity and communicates them to appropriate management personnel;
  • Provides project status and progress reports to customers, project teams, and management;
  • Coordinates preparation and submission of service reports, customer reports, quality documentation, ASME documentation, and project closeout packages;
  • Reviews and reconciles timesheets, expense reports, contractor invoices, rental invoices, shipping invoices, and other project-related expenses to support accurate project costing and customer invoicing;
  • Provides technical support to internal and external customers relating to equipment installation, commissioning, inspection, repair, troubleshooting, and service activities;
  • Performs equipment inspections and assists with technical troubleshooting at customer sites, including equipment located in confined spaces and environments with low light, temperature extremes, dust, and other challenging conditions;
  • Provides technical guidance to customer personnel and contractors during equipment installation and commissioning activities as required;
  • Ensures field activities are performed in accordance with applicable erection manuals, engineering documentation, procedures, specifications, and quality requirements;
  • Supports commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and performance testing of IST equipment at customer sites;
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other external stakeholders;
  • Acts in an ethical and reasonable manner in business dealings with company suppliers, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders;
  • Supports continuous improvement, cost reduction, quality, and strategic initiatives within the Service Department and IST;
  • Drives and supports a "Safety First" culture in all aspects and locations of IST;
  • Travels domestically and internationally to support Service projects, commissioning, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and customer service activities;
  • Performs other project management, technical, and field service duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be considered.
  • Eng., CET, C.Tech., PMP, or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, field service, technical service, engineering, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment;
  • Experience managing industrial service, repair, installation, commissioning, or maintenance projects;
  • Experience developing project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and customer reporting;
  • Experience preparing quotations, cost estimates, purchase requisitions, subcontract requirements, and other project documentation;
  • Experience coordinating procurement, contractors, suppliers, and third-party service providers;
  • Experience with industrial steam generation, boilers, HRSGs, OTSGs, power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, or related equipment is preferred;
  • Previous EPC or EPCM experience is an asset;
  • Previous fabrication or manufacturing experience is an asset;
  • Experience working at customer sites and coordinating field activities is preferred;
  • Experience with ASME documentation, quality documentation, or pressure equipment is an asset
