Job description

The Associate Director - Sales & Client Service is a key member of the Distribution team, supporting client relationships, consultant engagement, business development initiatives, product management activities, and operational processes across a global client base. Working closely with clients, consultants, relationship managers, and internal stakeholders, this role helps drive asset growth, deliver exceptional client service, and support new business opportunities across a broad range of investment strategies and vehicles. The successful candidate will combine strong investment knowledge, business judgment, and organizational skills to ensure a high standard of service throughout the client lifecycle.

Location: Chicago, IL | San Francisco, CA

Salary Range: $100,000-$150,000

Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual's geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon Firm and individual performance.

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • Stay abreast of industry news, market trends, consultant activity, and search opportunities, identifying potential impacts on client relationships, sales opportunities, and business development initiatives
  • Serve as the team's central repository of relationship intelligence, including searches, opportunities, cash flow activity, relationship history, and key business developments
  • Manage operational aspects of existing products and support new product launches, product development initiatives, and ongoing regulatory requirements
  • Partner with relationship managers to support client and consultant relationships, develop a deep understanding of client needs and service expectations, and ensure timely issue resolution, operational compliance, and client satisfaction
  • Support and help manage a global client, consultant, and prospect base, navigating diverse time zones, regional business practices, and cultural nuances to facilitate effective communication, relationship development, and business growth
  • Coordinate, review, and support the completion of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), due diligence questionnaires (DDQs), and finalist presentations, partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely submission
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on investment vehicles, shareholder servicing, operational processes, and regulatory requirements for relationship managers and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate across sales, marketing, operations, legal, compliance, trading, accounting, and shareholder services teams to support client servicing, business development efforts, and information sharing
  • Manage and monitor client fundings, onboarding activities, and cross-channel cash flow trends across pooled investment vehicles, coordinating with clients, consultants, custodians, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide shareholder support across pooled investment vehicles by facilitating trade and account maintenance requests, monitoring transactions, and serving as a liaison between clients and internal operations teams
  • Analyze, prepare, and distribute reporting and data for executive management, Distribution, Legal, Compliance, and other business stakeholders
  • Partner with intermediary and regional sales teams to coordinate sales initiatives, support business development efforts, and maintain consistency in client engagement activities
  • Maintain CRM systems to ensure client contacts, sales opportunities, campaign activity, pipeline reporting, and relationship notes are accurate and current
  • Collect, organize, and communicate portfolio, market, and product information to support client meetings, consultant presentations, and sales initiatives
  • Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and other ad hoc assignments as required, including providing administrative and operational support such as meeting, travel, and business activity coordination
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess high attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Prior experience in client service, sales support, relationship management, investor relations, investment operations, or a related function within asset management or financial services
  • Knowledge of investment products, including separate accounts, public and private commingled funds, and related investment structures
  • Experience with investment performance measurement concepts, including attribution analysis, performance reporting, and portfolio analytics, with the ability to interpret and communicate key findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience supporting client onboarding, fundings, shareholder servicing, and operational workflows
  • Strong understanding of client servicing, consultant relations, and business development processes
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a demonstrated capacity to build collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues across functional teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Salesforce or other CRM platform experience preferred
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required or willingness to obtain upon hire; successful completion of required examinations within 30 days of hire is expected
