Job Description

The Projectย Manager II leads complex, crossfunctional projects by defining scope, managing budgets, resources, and schedules, and proactively mitigating risk to ensure stakeholder satisfaction. This role champions best practices and requires strong leadership, communication, and financial acumen.ย The Projectย Manager IIย representsย the company in delivering successful project outcomes andย retainsย full authority and accountability throughout the contract lifecycle.ย 

SCOPE:ย 

  • Develop written project plansย toย establishย the projectย "charter"ย definition,ย theย scope of work, cost,ย and schedule parameters.ย 

  • Manage the projectย in accordance withย AFRY USAย LLC'sย Projectย Managementย Procedures and the contractual agreement with the client.ย 

  • Ensure compliance withย scope,ย schedule, budget,ย and quality requirements.ย 

  • Serve as client liaison, includingย initiating andย participatingย inย meetings and conferences, having the authority to speak for theย company.ย 

  • Supervise personnel assigned to the projectย team. Direct supervision may include project engineers,ย discipline engineers,ย other engineering consultants,ย home office and/or resident construction management, and project support service personnel including procurement,ย project control, estimating,ย schedulingย and administration.ย 

  • Continuouslyย monitorย theย projectย status, keeping the client andย AFRYย management informed of developments that may affect scope,ย schedule, budget,ย quality,ย financial performance, and client relations.ย 

  • Participate inย theย negotiation of contract changes with the client.ย 

  • Ensure proper documentation of meetings, agreements,ย and conversationsย thatย may affect contract commitments.ย 

  • Assistย in the preparation of proposals,ย marketing material,ย andย sales ofย technical presentations.ย 

  • Prepare a Project Procedures Manual, Design Criteria Document, and/or Field Procedure Manual,ย ifย appropriate, and other project controls to encompass all phases of the work.ย 

  • Assist Department Managers and Client Relations staff with client contracts, presentations,ย and qualificationย materials.ย 

  • Coordinate the receipt ofย all information coming into the office on a project andย disseminateย it to the designย teamย and others asย appropriate.ย ย 

  • Coordinate the work with other engineering disciplines,ย whereย required,ย for project continuity.ย 

  • Monitor/report scope.ย 

  • Monitor/report schedule and costs.ย 

  • Monitor/report budget.ย 

  • Prepare project monthly reports.ย 

  • Coordinate preparation of earned value reports.ย 

  • Coordinate preparation of resource loading plan.ย 

Qualifications

RELATIONSHIPS:ย 

This role reports to a designated Executive Sponsor for each project and collaborates with teams across all departments,ย leveragingย in-houseย expertise. The position may be accountable to multiple Executive Sponsors simultaneously, depending on project assignments.ย 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSย REQUIRED:ย 

  • Mustย possessย in-depth knowledge and a working backgroundย inย project management principles.ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecturalย discipline or equivalent combination of academic training and related engineering experience.ย ย 

  • Preferย 5ย yearsย ofย engineering experience with a minimum ofย 2 to 7ย years ofย managing projects.ย 

  • Familiarity withย projectย accounting, estimating, and scheduling proceduresย and systemsย is preferred.ย 

  • Professional registration as an engineer or architect is preferred.ย 

  • PMP certification is preferred.ย 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to make effective presentations to clients and technical groups.ย 

  • Industry focus: Chemicalย & Bio Refining, Pulp & Paper, Mining and Metals.ย 

  • Strong computer-based skills in relevant software programs, such as Word, Excel, Access, Adobe,ย Outlook,ย and Windows.ย 

  • Industrial based role, not an information technology role.ย
