Job description

Drive improvement across commodity trading and downstream value chains. As a Commodity Trading & Value Chain Optimization Manager, you will lead client work focused on improving performance across trading, logistics, and adjacent operations. This role is suited for candidates with experience in commodity trading, downstream operations, and optimization program delivery.

Work you'll do

As a Commodity Trading & Value Chain Optimization Manager on the Enterprise Operations & Risk team, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead client workstreams focused on commodity trading and value chain optimization
  • Manage teams, project plans, and client stakeholders across commercial and operational improvement efforts
  • Develop recommendations and value cases tied to margin, performance, and business objectives
  • Support proposals, solution materials, and other business development activities
  • Coach junior team members and help strengthen Deloitte's commodity solutions capabilities

The team

Our Enterprise Operations & Risk practice helps clients improve operations, manage risk, and create value across the commodity value chain. We combine industry knowledge, operational experience, and analytical insight to help organizations improve execution and performance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Operations
  • 10+ years of experience in commodity trading, downstream oil and gas, value chain operations, or consulting
  • Experience leading commercial or operational optimization programs in refining, shipping, storage, marketing, or trading operations
  • Experience defining performance metrics, building value cases, or measuring margin or operational improvement
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through process, system, or operating model changes
  • Ability to travel 75%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a consulting or advisory role within a global or matrixed organization
  • Experience building financial models to quantify value and benefits
  • Experience using data science, advanced analytics, operations research, or artificial intelligence in commercial or operational optimization
  • Experience supporting commodity value chain or margin improvement initiatives

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $134,500 to $256,100.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
