Job description

Design, support and troubleshoot distillation and extraction pilot tests at our Houston pilot plant facility.Perform process engineering on projects, proposals, and studies under the general supervision of lead engineers. Display good engineering judgment and demonstrate the ability to schedule and estimate the work effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with lab/pilot testing. This includes pilot test design, engineering support, and troubleshooting.
  • Development of simulations of chemical process systems for tests and projects.
  • PFD development with material and energy balances
  • Equipment design and specification of process vessels, heat exchangers, decanters, pumps, compressors and mass transfer equipment including fractionation towers/internals.
  • Specification and selection of instrumentation and controls
  • Preparation of utility balances, and hydraulic calculations / line-sizing.
  • Definition of controls logic and automated sequencing.
  • Preparation of operating manuals.
  • Project support including assistance with field inspections
  • Participate in start-ups and client operator training.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluation of existing systems
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical engineering as well as 3 to 10 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in a plant environment or pilot testing facility.
  • Process simulation modeling skills required. Prior knowledge of Aspen, Hysys or Pro II is a plus.
  • Displays good engineering judgment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, as well as all engineering computer tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must possess creative problem-solving skills, organization and time management skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact successfully with internal and external clients.
