Job Description:

We are seeking a Law Clerk that is ready to transition to an Associate Attorney upon passing the bar exam this summer.  The Law Clerk will participate in our mentorship program and enroll in our Cordell College program as they build their expertise practicing family law.  Cordell & Cordell will provide relocation expenses.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients with the support of a mentor in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in family law.
  • Attend court hearings and trials, and present cases effectively.
  • Provide legal advice and support to clients throughout the legal process.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and other legal staff to ensure efficient case management.

Qualifications:

  • Expected Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Will be sitting for the Michigan bar exam.
  • Able to obtain a license to practice law in the state of Virginia
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Enthusiastic about practicing family law and domestic litigation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality legal representation to clients.
