Position Summary

Advanced Communications and Electronics, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and successfully delivering wireless communications projects from initial customer engagement through final implementation and project closeout. This position works closely with customers, sales representatives, engineering, technicians, subcontractors, and manufacturers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

In addition to managing awarded projects, this role provides technical pre-sales support by assisting the sales team with solution development, site assessments, project estimating, and customer presentations.

The ideal candidate possesses strong project management skills, technical aptitude, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to outstanding customer service.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple communications projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize project management tools including:
    • Project schedules
    • Critical path analysis
    • Budget tracking
    • Change order management
    • Risk assessments
    • Action item logs
    • Daily reports
    • Project closeout documentation
  • Coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Lead project meetings with customers and internal project teams.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet profitability goals.
  • Manage customer expectations while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues affecting project success.
  • Review project financial performance and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

Technical Sales Support

  • Provide technical support during the sales process.
  • Assist in developing customer solutions and system designs.
  • Conduct site surveys, field assessments, and customer needs analyses.
  • Assist with cost estimating, bill of materials development, and proposal preparation.
  • Support business development by participating in customer meetings and technical presentations.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-friendly language.

Customer & Team Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, service, installation, and sales teams.
  • Ensure field personnel have the information, equipment, and resources necessary for successful project execution.
  • Communicate project status through regular updates to customers and company leadership.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent project management experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Three or more years of project management experience, preferably within wireless communications, telecommunications, public safety technology, construction, or related industries.
  • Experience managing technical infrastructure or communications system deployments.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales engineering, solution development, and technical proposals.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and customer relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR), P25, DMR, microwave, dispatch systems, wireless broadband, or public safety communications.
  • Experience working with government contracts and public procurement.
  • Knowledge of RF systems, networking, or telecommunications infrastructure.


Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel throughout New Mexico and surrounding states as required.
  • Overnight travel may be required based on project locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.


Working Environment

This position is performed in both office and field environments. Employees regularly visit customer facilities, construction sites, communications towers, equipment rooms, and outdoor project locations.

Work may be performed in varying environmental conditions including:

  • High elevations
  • Dusty or construction environments

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required and provided.


Physical Requirements

The team member must be able to:
