Job description

Staff Accountant

A Boutique Family Office | [Coral Gables, FL] | Full-Time, In-Office

About Us

We are a boutique family office managing a diverse portfolio of businesses and investments on behalf of a private, worldwide clientele. Our team supports a range of affiliated entities — including a law firm and insurance-related account management operations — providing the kind of hands-on, high-trust financial stewardship that only a close-knit office can offer. Our team reflects the international nature of our clients, and we pride ourselves on a collaborative, detail-oriented culture.

We're a small, close team, and we're looking for a dynamic individual who doesn't just keep the books, but rethinks how the books get kept — someone who sees where AI and automation can cut out manual work and make our accounting function faster, cleaner, and sharper.

What you'll do

You'll handle day-to-day bookkeeping across several of our affiliated entities: AP/AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger upkeep, invoicing, and expense tracking. You'll help with month-end and year-end close, keep financial records clean and audit-ready, and support account management work tied to our insurance business and recordkeeping for the law firm's accounts. You'll also be a point of contact for vendors and clients on billing and payment questions — in English and in Spanish.

Beyond the core accounting work, you'll be expected to actively bring AI tools and automation into the role — streamlining reconciliations, speeding up reporting, cutting down repetitive manual entry, and generally finding smarter ways to get the work done. We want someone who treats AI as part of the toolkit, not an afterthought.

Growth path

This role has a real trajectory. As you build a track record and earn the trust of the family office, there is a clear path to grow into a Controller role, taking on broader oversight across our affiliated businesses.

What we need

We care far more about attitude and intelligence than a resume full of years. If you're smart, a fast learner, and genuinely willing to roll up your sleeves, we want to hear from you — regardless of how much (or little) formal accounting experience you have.

●        A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude — willing to dig in, figure things out, and own problems

●        Sharp, quick to learn, and comfortable picking up new systems and processes on the fly

●        Native English speaker, fluent in Spanish — you'll use both regularly

●        Comfortable with (or quick to learn) QuickBooks or similar tools, solid in Excel, and genuinely curious about using AI tools to improve accounting workflows

●        Sharp attention to detail and genuinely trustworthy with sensitive financial information

●        Able to juggle multiple entities and accounts without dropping anything

●        Any accounting or bookkeeping background is a plus, but not required — we're prioritizing smart, motivated people over years of experience

Bonus points for

●        Hands-on experience using AI or automation tools (e.g., AI-assisted reconciliation, reporting, or workflow tools) in an accounting context

●        Experience with law firm trust/operating accounts

●        Insurance billing or account management background

●        Time spent in a family office or private client services setting

Why this role

Competitive pay based on experience, a stable team, exposure to a genuinely diverse mix of businesses and clients you won't find in a typical accounting job, and a clear path to grow into a Controller role as you prove yourself.
