Description

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing clear

communication and marketing strategies with brand consistency that elevate Legal Aid of

Nebraska's public profile, foster community engagement, bolster fundraising efforts, and support

the organization's mission. This individual collaborates across departments to build impactful

messaging, manages digital and print communications, and strengthens relationships with

stakeholders, media, and the broader community.


Essential Functions


Marketing and Communications Administration

-Design and implement annual marketing and communications plans in collaboration

with development and executive staff.

-Create and manage Legal Aid's external communications, including digital media,

print publications, press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials.

-Ensure all public-facing materials align with organizational values, strategic priorities,

and accessibility standards.

-Create and oversee the production of visual content, including videos, graphics, and

branding materials that support programmatic and fundraising initiatives.

-Work in collaboration with Legal Aid staff or community partners to coordinate

outreach events to promote Legal Aid and support relationship efforts. This includes

working with outreach organizations to complete event registrations and understand

the requirements of participation, coordinating volunteers, and equipping staff and/or

volunteers with event logistics and materials needed.


Marketing and Communications Engagement

-Maintain and grow Legal Aid's presence across social media platforms (e.g.,

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) with engaging and mission-aligned

content.

-Attend community outreach events, legal clinics, and other organizational programs to capture photos, collect client stories, and obtain media release authorizations for use in marketing and communications materials. 

-Coordinate and oversee external outreach efforts that increase awareness of Legal

Aid's services, strengthen community relationships, and support client outreach,

volunteer engagement, and fundraising objectives

-Respond to media inquiries and coordinate media opportunities, including interviews

and story placements.

-Build and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, community partners,

donors, and influencers.

-Support internal communications to ensure consistent organizational messaging and

staff engagement


Communications Management and Reporting

-Manage multiple marketing and communications projects simultaneously,

establishing timelines, priorities, and deliverables.

-Track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the impact of communication

strategies and adjust as needed.

-Maintain and regularly update Legal Aid's website, including content management,

design, and user engagement tools.

-Manage donor database as a means to track donor involvement and retention,

ensuring data health for donor profiling and marketing and communications

strategies.

-Contribute to grant writing and donor communications by providing impact statistics,

and branded visuals.

-Support annual giving initiatives, major donor engagement, special events, and

planned giving communications.

-Establish and manage a centralized client story library by proactively collecting,

interviewing, documenting, and updating client impact stories, ensuring content is

readily available for donor communications, fundraising materials, grant reports,

annual reports, and other strategic communications needs.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a

related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.

-Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in marketing and/or

communications


Preferred Requirements:

-Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal, social service, or public policy

concepts into compelling, audience-friendly content.

-Experience supporting fundraising, donor engagement, or development initiatives.

-Experience managing organizational branding initiatives.

-Experience working in nonprofit or public interest settings.

-Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

-Proficient in managing digital and print communications, with experience in graphic

design and multimedia production.

-Demonstrated expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign,

Illustrator).

-Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and basic HTML.

-Skilled in managing social media platforms and scheduling tools.

-Adept at storytelling and creating mission-driven content for diverse audiences.

-Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

-Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

-Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).

-Photography and video production/editing experience.

-Bilingual in English and another language spoken by Legal Aid clients is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

-Primarily office-based with general office conditions

-Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate

standard office equipment

-Ability to travel across the state as needed for client meetings, court appearances,

and outreach events.

-Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


Work Schedule:

-This position primarily works standard business hours; however, occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support community events, legal clinics, outreach activities, and other organizational initiatives. Weekend commitments consist of a few hours on select Saturdays throughout the year.
