Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Gail's Homecare is a non-medical, in-home care provider that maintains the highest quality standards in the industry. Our goal is to add value to the lives of our clients and to those who love them and to provide personal care to the patient in their residence. We are based in Lithonia, Georgia and our services are available in the areas of Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Jackson, and Rockdale County. In Gail's Homecare, we value our employees the same way we value our clients! We are currently seeking for a compassionate, highly-skilled, and reliable personal care assistant (PCA) to serve as part of our growing home health care team.

In this role, you will work with our clients in their homes, helping them with basic personal hygiene and domestic tasks as needed, according to their requirements and limitations. You will provide compassionate care and assistance and document clients' progress to help ensure their overall wellbeing.

Salary: $15 per hour

Shifts: Thursday to Saturday - 9am to 5pm

Qualifications

  • Current CPR/BLS and First Aid Certification required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time professional experience in a healthcare setting required; three (3) to five (5) years preferred
  • Significant experience in a home health care setting strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conversational skills
  • Completion of at least eight (8) hours of personal care-related training annually
  • Participation in professional meetings and training sessions as directed
  • Ability to work under supervision and demonstrate competency in providing quality client care
  • Experience in housekeeping or domestic work is a plus
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility and other physical tasks
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Willingness to perform both personal care and household tasks as requested by the client
  • Dependable, punctual, and reliable
  • Warm, compassionate, and caring personality
  • Commitment to treating clients with dignity, respect, and professionalism
  • Ability to comply with all agency policies, legal requirements, and healthcare regulations

Client Care Responsibilities 1. Personal Care
  • Assist the client with bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Change clothing and incontinence products as needed.
  • Ensure the client remains clean, dry, comfortable, and properly positioned in bed.
2. Mobility Assistance
  • Safely operate and use a Hoyer Lift for client transfers.
  • Assist the client out of bed and into a seated position for meals when needed.
  • After meals, assist the client back into bed.
  • Ensure the client is properly repositioned, pulled up in bed, and comfortable following transfers.
3. Meal Assistance
  • Feeding assistance is not required.
  • Ensure meals and beverages are within the client's reach.
  • Confirm the client is safely and comfortably positioned while eating.
4. Housekeeping Duties
  • Empty trash as needed.
  • Fold and organize laundry.
  • Clean and maintain the bathroom.
  • Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Vacuum floors and common areas as needed.

Ensure the client is always positioned safely and comfortably after transfers and personal care activities.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment at all times.

Follow all safety protocols and report any concerns or changes in the client's condition to the office promptly.

Treat the client with dignity, respect, compassion, and professionalism during every shift.
