Job Description:
Under direct supervision, performs paraprofessional legal work researching and providing analysis on a variety of legal subjects for an agency; prepares a variety of legal documents and memorandums; performs related work as assigned.
This is a temporary position expected to last until 9/10/2027
Job Duties include:
1. Conducts research for agency attorneys; reviews, studies, searches, and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs and related legal authorities.
2. Analyze law sources to prepare drafts of briefs or arguments for review, approval, and use by attorney.
3. Assists with preparing legal files and/or documents and/or correspondence such as briefs, affidavits, motions, subpoenas, petitions, or memorandums for use by agency attorneys.
4. Proofreads letters, briefs, memoranda and other material prepared by agency attorneys.
5. May assist in drafting proposed rules, regulations and statutes.
6. May represents agency in administrative hearings under supervision of a licensed agency attorney pursuant to Certified Senior Law Student Rule.
Hourly Rate for Law Clerk I: $15.682
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications for a Law Clerk I: Current enrollment in, and completion of one year of law school (approved by the American Bar Association).
Other
Employees who are currently enrolled in an American Bar Association-approved law school and have completed sufficient legal studies to attain senior standing, making them eligible for Certification as a Certified Senior Law Student under Nebraska Revised Court Rules, Chapter 3, Article 7, may be promoted to Law Clerk II at a rate of $18.530
