GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Investor Reporting Servicing Manager, the Financial Analyst 2 serves in the functional capacity of Investor Reporting & Reconciliation Analyst I. This position supports Investor Reporting including portfolio management, bank reconciliation preparation, clearing account research, remittance verification and documentation, banking transactions, stop payments, disbursement maintenance, loan adjustments and modifications, payment processing, exception tracking, general research requests, servicing revenue analysis, escrow advance recovery reporting, and financial record retention for State Home Mortgage.

The position assists with maintaining accuracy, timeliness, organization, and completeness of financial activity related to borrower payments, investor remittances, custodial accounts, clearing accounts, disbursement activity, wire and book transfer documentation, servicing revenue, escrow advance recoveries, and loan-level transaction research. This role requires strong Excel skills, strong organizational habits, sound process judgment, and the ability to understand how one function connects to other related business areas.

The position supports the department's internal control structure by helping reduce single points of failure, improve proofing processes, transition manual work into better documented workflows, and ensure completed work products are properly saved, retained, and available for use by other team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reconciliation Support
Assist with the preparation and review of bank reconciliations for assigned custodial, clearing, and investor-related accounts. Research reconciling items, document findings, and assist with timely resolution of outstanding or aged items.

2. Clearing Account Research
Monitor and research activity in assigned clearing accounts. Work with internal departments to identify the proper disposition of funds and ensure supporting documentation is maintained.

3. Investor Reporting Support
Prepare and review reports used to substantiate investor remittance amounts. Provide backup support for selected daily and monthly investor reporting functions, including loan-level activity review, payoff support, remittance verification, investor/category coding research, servicing revenue analysis, and escrow advance recovery reporting.

4. Banking Transactions and Disbursement Processing
Process and support banking-related transactions, including outgoing wires, book transfers, stop payment requests, and disbursement reissues. Review supporting documentation, confirm request accuracy, ensure required approvals are obtained, and maintain complete records in accordance with departmental procedures and internal control standards.

5. Loan Adjustment and Transaction Research
Process loan adjustment requests and perform related loan-level transaction research, including transaction corrections, reversals, payment-related adjustments, fee postings, payoff items, escrow-related activity, servicing revenue, escrow advance recoveries, and account discrepancies. Use Black Knight/MSP, banking reports, shared departmental records, and other available documentation to research and support requested account updates.

6. Exception Tracking
Maintain tracking logs for unresolved items, transaction exceptions, reconciling differences, missing support, pending adjustments, and items requiring follow-up with other SHM departments.

7.General Research Requests
Respond to general research requests related to borrower payments, disbursements, reversals, investor activity, clearing accounts, payoff items, fee postings, servicing revenue, escrow advance recoveries, and other loan-level financial activity.

8. Process Documentation and Record Retention
Document assigned workflows, maintain organized electronic records, and ensure completed work products are uploaded to the appropriate shared drive location for future reference, review, and use by other team members. Assist with converting manual or paper-based processes into more efficient, trackable, and reusable electronic workflows.

9. Documentation and Audit Readiness
Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready records for assigned functions. Ensure supporting documentation is saved in accordance with departmental naming conventions, retention expectations, and internal control standards.

10. Cross-Training and Backup Coverage
Participate in cross-training for daily transaction workflows, investor reporting functions, reconciliation processes, banking transactions, disbursement activity, loan adjustment requests, servicing revenue reporting, escrow advance recovery reporting, and departmental reports to support continuity during absences or periods of increased volume.

11. Process Improvement
Evaluate assigned job functions to understand how they connect to related business areas. Identify recurring issues, documentation gaps, manual workarounds, workflow inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve accuracy, timeliness, organization, and effectiveness. Assist with developing and implementing practical processes that support department goals and improve efficiency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of mortgage servicing, borrower payment activity, escrow-related transactions, disbursement activity, servicing revenue, escrow advance recoveries, financial documentation, and regulatory or investor-driven reporting environments.
• Strong skill in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize data, review large data sets, perform account research, create or update tracking logs, support reconciliation work, and prepare reports used for review, substantiation, and decision-making.
• Skill in financial research, account analysis, reconciliation support, documentation review, process development, workflow organization, Microsoft Office, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to analyze transaction-level information, identify discrepancies, organize supporting documentation, follow established procedures, manage confidential information, and work collaboratively with internal departments.
• Ability to understand how individual tasks connect to broader department functions, identify process gaps, and help develop practical procedures that improve efficiency, consistency, and documentation quality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in accounting, billing, collection systems, claims, financial analysis, mortgage servicing, loan servicing, escrow operations, reconciliation, or related financial operations; or two years of professional experience in general accounting, billing, collection systems, claims, financial analysis, mortgage servicing, loan servicing, escrow operations, reconciliation, or related financial operations; or one year of experience at the lower-level Financial Analyst 1 or equivalent position.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Experience with Black Knight/MSP, investor reporting, custodial accounts, clearing accounts, loan adjustment processing, disbursement research, servicing revenue analysis, escrow advance recovery, banking transactions, or government mortgage servicing operations is strongly preferred.

Strong Excel experience, strong documentation habits, and demonstrated experience improving, organizing, or implementing business processes are strongly preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The employee is expected to:

• Maintain accurate, complete, organized, and accessible documentation.
• Complete assigned reconciliation, banking transaction, disbursement, adjustment, reporting, revenue analysis, recovery, and research tasks timely.
• Use Excel and other available tools to organize data, support analysis, track work items, and prepare accurate reports.
• Upload completed work products and supporting documentation to the appropriate shared drive location in accordance with departmental standards.
• Escalate unresolved or aged items appropriately.
• Support proofing controls for remittances, outgoing funds, loan-level adjustments, servicing revenue reporting, and escrow advance recovery reporting.
• Identify manual, paper-based, or inefficient workflows and assist with developing improved processes.
• Demonstrate confidentiality and sound judgment when handling financial and borrower information.
• Provide reliable backup support for assigned Investor Reporting functions.
• Contribute to a team environment focused on accuracy, accountability, organization, documentation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

This position is currently designated as an in office position. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and may require occasional overtime. Local periodic travel may be required

PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Work is principally stationary, but the person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and constantly operate a computer and other office equipment.
