Software Engineer II - Mission-Critical Defense Systems
Location: Colorado Springs, CO - Peterson SFB area
Compensation: Approximately $120K, depending on experience
Clearance: Active Secret required; Top Secret preferred
Work Arrangement: 100% on-site
We are recruiting for a Software Engineer II to support mission-critical software development for advanced missile warning systems. This is a fully on-site role in Colorado Springs supporting secure defense programs where software reliability, system performance, and disciplined engineering practices are essential.
The Software Engineer II will design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain complex software systems used in operational environments. This position is well suited for a hands-on software engineer with strong Java skills, experience working in Agile teams, and exposure to containerization and CI/CD tools.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, modify, integrate, test, and maintain software systems and platforms
Write and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality and reliability
Containerize applications using Docker and related technologies
Analyze user and system requirements and develop software solutions
Support secure software development practices in a classified environment
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and large-scale planning events
Support integration, verification, and troubleshooting of software components
Develop technical documentation, design documentation, as-built documentation, and operational procedures
Provide diagnostic support to resolve processing anomalies in complex software programs
Assist with specifications, requirements analysis, and software design activities
