Advanced Lining, a UFT company, is the leading installer of manhole lining, manhole coating, and water rehabilitation products. With decades of experience in the industry, we understand that millions of people rely on wastewater and industrial water systems to be safe and effective day and night. Unfortunately, these systems cannot last forever, creating issues such as corrosion and infiltration issues. Our experienced team is committed to providing top-notch quality products to ensure a successful project every time, saving you maintenance costs over time.
The Coating Applicator Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to train and develop individuals interested in learning the industrial coatings trade. The apprentice will support certified applicators and crew leads in surface preparation, infiltration stopping, coating application, equipment handling, and job site safety practices. This is a hands-on role offering excellent growth potential for individuals pursuing a long-term career in industrial coatings and corrosion control. The Coating Applicator Apprentice must have the ability to travel 90% of the time. Travel will consist of local state and out of state travel.
What you'll do:
  • Assist in surface preparation activities including pressure washing, sanding, grinding, and masking
  • Support the setup and cleanup of coating equipment, hoses, and job site materials
  • Learn and assist in coating application processes using brush, roller, or spray equipment under supervision
  • Mix coatings and materials per specifications under the direction of experienced crew members
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE, including respirators and fall protection
  • Help with environmental monitoring (e.g., dew point, temperature, humidity)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks
  • Show up on time, work hard, and demonstrate a willingness to learn the trade
  • Assist in completing daily production and safety logs as required

What you'll bring:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at height
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and respectful communication
  • Ability to travel 90%+ required
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
  • Interest in pursuing AMPP/SSPC/NACE coatings certification
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and unrestricted driver's license with acceptable MVR, a clean driving record is required
