Job description

Position: Preschool Assistant Teacher

Type of Position: Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

School Overview

Tradition meets innovation at St. Luke School, where we honor our rich history and traditions, embrace the present, and continue always to move forward.Ā  Founded in 1957, St. Luke School serves students from age three through eighth grade. St. Luke Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) offer co-ed programs in Preschool through Grade 8, welcoming students from around the world.Ā  We are a fully authorized International Baccalaureate World School delivering IB programming to all our students.Ā 

Postion Details:Ā 

The Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the care and education of up to 16 children (ages 4 to 5 years). This role reports directly to the Preschool Lead Teacher.Ā  Hours follow a full school day schedule 8:003:15, Monday-Friday as per school calendar.Ā Ā While not required, training in early childhood education or previous experience working with young children is preferred.Ā 

Responsibilities

Leadership & Care

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues, adhering to school protocols.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for students under your care.
  • Support the integration of the International Baccalaureate framework and inquiry based learning.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements and maintain a fully licensed classroom.
  • Model faith-based, age-appropriate instruction, including Catholic traditions and values.
  • Participate in school-led community events, which may involve several evening perfomances.Ā 

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Welcome guidance and feedback from Lead Teachers to form a cohesive and effective teaching team.
  • Support the organization's collaborative culturehelping out where and when needed.

General Support

  • Monitor health protocols, assist with minor injuries, and support emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure that the working environment remains clean. This includes, but is not limited to, regularly wiping down surfaces, and spot cleaning.
  • Assist with meal and snack preparation.

Required Qualifications (must be completed before working with students)

  • H.S. Diploma
  • Virtus (Safe Environment) training through the Archdiocose of Seattle
  • Active MERIT account with up-to-date STARS documentation and a commitment to 10+ STARS hours annually.
  • Completion of Childcare Basics Course (30 hours).

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly Rate Range: $25-28.00 per hour. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
