Job description


Johnson Service Group is looking for an Mechanic - Vehicles & Equipment for one of our clients in San Jose. This person will assist with the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment.


6-Month Contract


Pay: $34.92/hr
Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on dewatering equipment, pumps, generators, trailers, small engines, vehicles, and construction equipment.
  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical, hydraulic, braking, steering, suspension, cooling, and drivetrain systems.
  • Conduct equipment safety inspections and follow established maintenance procedures.
  • Safely handle and dispense fuel in accordance with shop and safety procedures.
  • Assist with equipment check-out/check-in processes and dewatering equipment requests.
  • Support parts and inventory activities, including receiving, stocking, issuing, organizing, and tracking parts, materials, and equipment supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with District staff, vendors, and shop personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • One (1) year of experience performing repair and maintenance of vehicles or mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle and equipment maintenance practices and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools and basic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine troubleshooting and repairs under management direction.
  • Ability to read and follow service manuals, parts lists, and written instructions.
  • Experience assisting with parts, inventory, and equipment tracking is preferred.
  • Familiarity with dewatering equipment, pumps, generators, trailers, small engines, or construction equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team.

License

  • Valid California Driver’s License
