Job description

Pay: $200/day, $1,000+/week

Residential Cleaner, Independent Contractor (1099)

About us

Bluebonni Cleaning Co. connects independent cleaners with homeowners around Katy, Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg, Missouri City, Fulshear, and the rest of Fort Bend County. We line up the jobs, collect the payments, deal with customers, and handle the paperwork. You clean and get paid.

The basics

  • Location: Fort Bend County, TX (Katy, Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg, Missouri City, Fulshear, and nearby)
  • Pay: Per job, not hourly. You earn 50% of the service price on every job, split evenly between the cleaners assigned to it (typically a crew of two), plus a tip built into every job
  • Schedule: You set it. Weekends are worth grabbing, since clients pay a surcharge on weekend bookings and there's more on the table those days
  • Type: Independent contractor (1099)

What you get

  • We book the jobs, take the payments, and handle the admin, so the cleaning is all you have to think about
  • Per-job pay instead of hourly, so working faster and smarter puts more in your pocket
  • A tip built into every job, and any extra cash a client hands you is yours to keep
  • Steady work. Most cleaners land around $200 a day or $1,000 a week, with room to make more depending on job size, your availability, your skill, and tips
  • You pick the jobs that fit your life, with nobody looking over your shoulder
  • Pay every Monday through Stripe Connect, straight into your bank account

How the money works

  • You earn 50% of the service price on every job, split evenly among the cleaners assigned to it. Houses are typically handled by a crew of two
  • Typical pay per person runs $70 to $200 a job, depending on size and complexity
  • A tip is built into every payout, and extra cash tips are 100% yours
  • Weekends pay more, since clients are charged a surcharge
  • If a client cancels at the last minute, you still get half of your share of the payout
  • Everything pays out every Monday via Stripe Connect, by direct deposit

What we're looking for

  • English speaking: able to deal with clients and our team directly
  • Background check: you'll need to pass a background check
  • Experience: at least a year of professional cleaning, residential or commercial
  • Professionalism: you carry yourself well and follow the process. Dress code is simple: nothing overly revealing, just clean and presentable long pants, closed-toe shoes, and either our optional athletic polo or a plain T-shirt with no graphics or images. We have an athletic polo with the Bluebonni name on it that's optional to wear, and we include two for free
  • Punctuality: you show up on time. Repeated lateness or last-minute cancellations can get you deactivated
  • Physical work: you can handle the physical side, including lifting at least 50 lbs
  • Transportation: your own, and reliable
  • Insurance: your own liability coverage, at least $300,000 per occurrence
  • Supplies: you bring your own tools and supplies. We'll send the full required-and-recommended list once you apply
  • Work authorization: authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Process: you'll follow the checklists, including check-in, check-out, and job completion steps in our provider web portal
  • Discretion: you respect clients' privacy and take pride in doing the job right

How hiring works

  1. Application and cleaning quiz. A short application and a quick quiz to get a sense of what you know. You'll need a passing score to move on
  2. 15-minute phone call. A quick conversation about your experience, what you're after, and your availability
  3. Contract, W-9, and background check. Sign the contractor agreement, fill out your W-9, and clear the screening
  4. Paid test clean. We pay you for a test cleaning so we can both make sure it's a good fit
  5. Ongoing jobs. Once you're in, we send work your way based on demand and when you're free

Why cleaners stay

  • Solid per-job pay, and you keep your tips, including the extra cash ones
  • Weekends pay more
  • You choose your own hours
  • Steady, recurring work that we book for you
  • You always know what a job pays before you accept it
  • Direct deposit every Monday
  • Room to grow, including moving into a W-2 cleaning manager role with benefits
