Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Joey and Friends Empties provide scheduled, year-round empty bottle/can pickups to residents and businesses in Edmonton and surrounding neighborhoods. All collected donations and proceeds add value to the quality care and services offered to our individuals with diverse abilities in Service Delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete an average of 10-15 stops per hour for residential routes and 4-5 stops per hour for business routes until route completion and drop off at the bottle depot

Complete daily pre and post-route vehicle inspections, reporting any damage

Complete daily pre-risk assessment

Maintain vehicle cleanliness at all times, wash as needed

Deal with all customers in a professional and courteous manner

Assist on other routes as needed and directed by supervisor

Successfully pack truck for efficient pick and delivery

Adhere to all traffic laws in the Province of Alberta

Drive in a safe and courteous manner

-Assisting with moving supplies (eco runs)

-dropping off and picking up bins

-assisting other drivers as needed

Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 12 High school diploma

1-2 years direct experience driving one tonne cube van

Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or other appropriate license), and a Clean Drivers Abstract

Proficient command/comprehension of the English language

Flexible and ability to adapt to changing needs

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

Strong sense of direction and navigation skills

Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to read other people's verbal and non-verbal cues and to monitor and moderate one's own behavior and emotions

Strong problem solving and reasoning

Drive / Work in all weather conditions unless the run has been cancelled

Requires regular lifting/maneuvering of heavy and/or awkward objects of 5 - 50 lbs.

Must be aware of hazards at all times and act to mitigate risk
