To thrive as a Clean Up Artist, you need strong drawing skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of animation principles, often supported by experience or a degree in animation or art. Familiarity with digital animation tools like Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Animate, or TVPaint is typically required. Excellent collaboration, time management, and adaptability help Clean Up Artists work effectively within production teams and meet tight deadlines. What does a Clean Up Artist do in animation?

A Clean Up Artist in animation is responsible for taking the rough sketches created by animators and refining them into clean, precise line drawings. These cleaned-up drawings are used as the final frames for animation, ensuring consistency and clarity in the characters and backgrounds. Clean Up Artists play a crucial role in maintaining the visual style and quality of the animated project, often working closely with animators and directors. Their work helps bridge the gap between the rough animation stage and the final colored frames.

As a Clean Up Artist, you work closely with animators by refining their rough sketches into clean, production-ready line art.
