Job description

Incumbent will be familiarized with the confined space entry permit, preparation checklist, monitoring results, supervision, rescue plan, and attendants & entrants' duties.

Also, will be familiarized with the knowledge of hazards that may be faced during entry, including the mode, signs or symptoms, and consequences of the exposure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Enter and clean tanks utilizing different methods such as sweeping, mopping, squeegees, shoveling, and collection of waste.
  • Use absorbent pads pumps.
  • Contain, package solids and liquids from confined space in a safe manner.
  • Properly clean and use of materials that will not have an effect personal wildlife or the environment.
  • Proper use of equipment, which includes:
    • Atmospheric testing and monitoring equipment.
    • Ventilating equipment needed to obtain acceptable entry conditions.
    • Communication equipment necessary to maintain contact with the standby person.
    • Personal protective equipment as needed.
    • Lighting equipment as needed.
    • Barriers and shields as needed.
    • Equipment, such as ladders, needed for safe ingress and egress.
    • Rescue and emergency equipment as needed.
    • Any other equipment necessary for safe entry into and rescue from permit spaces.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous tank cleaning or spill cleanup preferred, but not mandatory.

CERTIFICATION(S) AND LICENSE(S) REQUIRED:

  • 40 hour Hazwoper certificate required.
  • Confined Space certificate required.
  • First Aid and CPR preferred.
