Job description

Job Summary:
The School Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine cleaning and facility support duties to ensure school buildings and grounds are properly maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other school facilities. 
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces. 
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. 
  • Clean windows, doors, walls, and furniture as needed. 
  • Replenish restroom and custodial supplies. 
  • Set up and arrange furniture, equipment, and materials for school events and activities.  
  • Monitor building security by locking and unlocking doors and securing facilities as assigned. 
  • Follow established safety procedures and properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment. 
  • Respond promptly to spills, emergencies, and custodial service requests. 
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed. 
  • Support a positive and professional school environment. 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • MUST PASS Background and Drug Screening.
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. 
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment safely and effectively. 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to push and pull custodial equipment and supplies. 
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
