Job description

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a decent, safe, and sanitary condition by cleaning up to 18 sleeping rooms and bathrooms. The Housekeeper is expected to promote a clean, healthy environment for our guests while maintaining positive communication and respect with other departments. They should also notify management of any maintenance repairs that need done in rooms as soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS/PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Able to stand or be on feet for long periods of time
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to lift and bend without difficulty
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Notify supervisor or manager of supplies as needed
  • Report all maintenance issues to the AYS department or Manager ASAP
  • Be hospitable to our guests and to associates
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Maintain a high degree of coverage in public areas and restrooms during peak times
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and service to our guests
  • Be available to handle situations which may develop requiring immediate attention
  • Maintain a spotless environment in all public areas.
  • Bring down all lost & found items properly labeled with room number and date daily.

PRIMARY DAILY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Clean assigned rooms
  • Attend daily meetings
  • Pick up laundry cart from laundry room (Use correct cleaning chemicals)
  • Keep cart organized and clean
  • Make sure rooms are clean and complete according to the inspectors checklist
  • Change bedding, dust, replace amenities, and vacuum each assigned room
  • Clean bathroom and sink area/ replace dirty linen
  • Clean closet area, including mirrored doors
  • Turn room on phone to either OC or VC status
  • Continue to next room
  • Watch DND signs on door and do not disturb
  • If stay over put sign under door at end of shift
  • When finished for the day, put cart in closet, bring down linen cart, and all clean linen to laundry room.
  • Honor all work-related requests made be a manager or supervisor, which may be outside normal duties, to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDE LIFTING AND PUSHING):

  • Ability to bend and stoop for at least a 7 hour shift
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds 10% of the time
  • Able to stand or be on feet 100% of the time

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Vacuum cleaner.
  • Housekeeper Cart

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • No formal education required
  • Ability to speak in language understood by guests and co-workers.
