The pay range for this position is set at $15-$16.50/hr (based on education) for up to 29/hrs per week.
In order to qualify for this position, you must have 6 months of breastfeeding experience & be a current or previous WIC participant (in any state, not just GA WIC)
Description of Duties
Under general supervision, provides basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, including on-going breastfeeding education and/or counseling on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers to breastfeeding and how to start breastfeeding successfully. Assists in teaching prenatal breastfeeding
classes for WIC participants and provides individual breastfeeding education as needed. Maintains a caseload of WIC pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, and uses proper and consistent documentation for peer counselor contacts in the database system.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Has previously breastfed for at least 6 months. Current or previous WIC participant
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Peer Counseling experience, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), Bi-lingual in English & Spanish
