Description
The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking caring, energetic, and dependable Teachers to join our Childcare team. We are continuously accepting applications for current and future openings at our Early Learning Centers. Whether you have experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, pre-kindergarten, or school-age children, we would love to hear from you. We hire passionate individuals who are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and engaging environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Teachers are responsible for providing high-quality care and education while supporting each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Working collaboratively with fellow educators, Teachers help create welcoming classrooms that foster curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Assignments may vary based on program needs, experience, qualifications, and availability.
Essential Functions
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning through play.
  • Support children's emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Encourage positive behavior and model respectful interactions.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and engaging classroom environments.
  • Follow all YMCA, EEC, health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain accurate records as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding their child's progress and daily experiences.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with classroom routines, including meals, transitions, outdoor play, and rest periods.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a current Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Teacher certification appropriate for the assigned program.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire (training provided if needed).\
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team while building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
  • Commitment to the YMCA's mission, values, and philosophy of youth development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience with children.
  • Experience working in a licensed childcare center or other early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Experience implementing curriculum, documenting child progress, and partnering with families.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of children across a variety of age groups and classroom settings.
