Concord Road Elementary School is seeking Teaching Assistants for the 2026-2027 school year.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The Teaching Assistant works under the general supervision of a certified teacher to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of students. This role involves providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support, preparing and organizing classroom materials, and assisting in classroom management. The Teaching Assistant also supervises students during transitions, lunch, and recess. In addition to instructional support, the Teaching Assistant helps monitor student progress, addresses behavior concerns, and performs clerical tasks such as grading, attendance tracking, and recordkeeping, contributing to a well-functioning and inclusive classroom environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with the teacher to support lesson planning and preparation
  • Lead or assist with small-group work, remediation, and enrichment
  • Provide targeted support to students with special education or language needs
  • Supervise during non-instructional times (recess, lunch, field trips)
  • Assist with grading, data entry, classroom setup and cleanup
  • Help maintain a welcoming and affirming classroom environment
  • Observe students and provide feedback to teachers on academic or behavioral progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings, trainings, and professional development (whenever possible)
  • Operate classroom technology and assist with instructional materials preparation

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid New York State Teaching Assistant certificate or classroom teaching certificate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 month position - 4 year probationary period
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated annually by building administration.
