The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, effective, and engaging fitness classes for participants of varying fitness levels. This role requires strong communication skills, enthusiasm, excellent rhythm and musicality, and the ability to motivate individuals and groups in a positive and inclusive environment. Instructors are expected to deliver high-quality classes while promoting member satisfaction and supporting overall wellness goals.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities are, but not limited to,
  • Lead a variety of group fitness classes in accordance with established program standards.
  • Create a welcoming, energetic, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and member retention.
  • Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide modifications to accommodate different fitness levels and abilities.
  • Utilize rhythm and musical timing to effectively cue and guide participants during classes.
  • Maintain a safe exercise environment by monitoring participants and addressing safety concerns.
  • Arrive prepared for classes with appropriate music, equipment setup, and planned workouts.
  • Build positive relationships with members and provide encouragement, motivation, and fitness education.
  • Maintain attendance records and comply with facility policies and procedures.
  • Stay current on fitness trends, training methods, and industry best practices.
  • Assist with special fitness events, workshops, or promotional activities as needed.
  • Current nationally recognized group fitness certification preferred.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
  • Ability to actively lead classes and demonstrate exercises for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up fitness equipment as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical activities associated with group exercise instruction.

Aerobic Instructors lead a variety of classes. These can be cardio/beat based, strength, HIIT, or dance styles.
