Job description

The Fitness and Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Fitness and Wellness Manager in planning, programming, budgeting, and overall administration of the Fitness/Aquatics Center while maintaining a safe environment. 
 
The starting hourly range for this position is $25.69 to $35.97. Pay rates are determined based on years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, schedule and instruct land-based exercise classes that meet the needs and abilities of residents.  Classes should be adapted to specific populations and may include, but are not limited to, cardiovascular, muscular, flexibility, and conditioning classes utilizing exercise equipment (machines, mats, bands, hand weights), as well as seated and standing exercise classes
  • Develop, schedule, and instruct recreational aquatics exercise classes and services that meet the needs and abilities of participants. Classes should be adapted to specific populations and may include, but are not limited to, moderate-intensity cardiovascular and muscular conditioning, low-intensity range-of-motion exercises, water walking, and other aquatic exercise programs designed to meet the participants’ needs
  • Promote and communicate the Fitness and Aquatics Center programs to residents throughout the organization using a variety of communication methods. Responds to complaints and concerns professionally, graciously, and proactively
  • Develop, implement, supervise, and modify individualized land- and water-based exercise plans that accommodate the varied physical and cognitive abilities of WCBR population
  • Develop, schedule, and instruct live-streamed exercise classes for residents as needed
  • Create protocols for individualized exercise programs based on participants’ health considerations. Ensure all participants complete an orientation before participating in any activity
  • Assist in designing individualized exercise programs for staff members, monitor participant progress, and provide recommendations as appropriate
  • Design creative and progressive fitness and aquatics exercise programs, monitor their effectiveness, and prepare and present recommendations to staff and residents as appropriate
  • Monitor the pool and its users for safety
  • Contribute to the care of the facility, including, but not limited to, regular pool maintenance, cleaning exercise equipment, and maintaining pool towels and other facility supplies
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fitness facility, including leading group exercise classes and providing personal training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of residents and associates
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required
Requirements
  • Certified Personal Trainer
  • Certified Group Exercise Instructor
  • Senior Fitness Certification
  • CPR and First aid certification
  • Associate's degree required
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or similar field preferred
  • Four years of relevant experience can be substituted for degree requirements
