You observe patients for any movements or behaviors that might require help, such as trying to get out of bed or showing signs of distress. When something concerning happens, you follow the set guidelines and immediately contact the nursing staff. Your main responsibility is to ensure patients are safe by watching them continuously and communicating any concerns right away.

Summary

The Monitor Tech provides support services. Some duties include: basic computer keyboarding skills, tearing down and assembling patient charts as appropriate, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures as needed, and stocking supplies.

Job Description

In addition, the monitor tech will be responsible in monitoring and interpreting patient heart rhythms and vital signs as well as following set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms. Ability to interpret alarms and follow through with appropriate communication as needed.Depending on location, the monitor tech may also be providing continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Follows set algorithms, interprets alarming events, and follows through with appropriate communication as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
