What is a Class D driver position?

A Class D driver position refers to a job where the employee is required to operate vehicles classified as 'Class D' under state or local regulations. In most states, a Class D license allows drivers to operate standard passenger vehicles, such as cars, vans, and small trucks, for personal or commercial use. Individuals in this role may transport goods, passengers, or perform delivery services, depending on the employer. This position typically does not authorize the operation of large commercial vehicles like semi-trucks or buses, which require higher license classes. Requirements for obtaining a Class D license may include passing a written knowledge test and a road skills test.
