Job Description Summary

This position monitors the functions of the boiler and refrigeration equipment to ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operation of heating and cooling systems, which are vital for maintaining product quality and safety. It also emphasizes efficient operation of related equipment and coordinates with B&R Mechanics when larger repairs and updates are needed.

Job Description

  • Starts,operates,and shutsdown boiler,refrigerationand auxiliary systems. Reads meters and gages or automatic recording devices at specified intervals.

  • Recordsequipmentdatain daily logs and sheets.

  • Adjusts manual or automatic controls to bring equipment into prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup systems, or shut down equipment.

  • Visually inspects equipmentperiodically for malfunctions or maintenance needs and takes corrective action.

  • Performs preventativeand generalmaintenance(lubricating, tightening, cleaning, etc.) andcollaborateswith B&R Mechanics for larger repairs.

  • Documentsremoval, installation, disassembly, repair, and assembly of plant equipment.

  • Explains the purpose and operation of all boiler and refrigeration equipment and makesdeciionson troubleshooting and repairs.

  • UpdatesCMMS (computerized maintenance management system)daily with work order results.

  • Performs non-routine maintenance jobs as assigned.

  • Maintainsorganized workspaces, tools,support 5S, and documentation.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications:(Required & Preferred)

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

  • Lock-out/Tag-out certification isrequired. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment, specifically food processing highly preferred.

  • Required to pass a pulmonary/fit test yearly (due to the use ofSCBA).

  • Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirementmay vary by location).

  • Must be able to be qualified withintime framesestablishedbyfacility.

  • Ability to perform basic math functions,required.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs

  • Applicability of job levels varies by location and isdeterminedby the plant skills matrix.

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Must be able to pass respirator fit test and Pulmonary Fitness Test (PFT)

  • Ability tolift upto50pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.

  • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hottocold in temperature

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments toinclude: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke,smellsand allergies

  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movementsrequiredfor job actions and procedures.

  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.

  • Requires manual dexterity, overallcoordinationand good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.Ability tooperatework related equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis
