Job description

Position Summary:
The Shipping/Receiving Assistant is responsible for safely and efficiently shipping, receiving, and transporting local loads between company plants and designated locations. This position requires a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and adherence to all federal, state, and company safety regulations. If you do not already have a Class B License, you will be expected to get one in the first 3 months of starting. The Driver will ensure timely delivery of goods, maintain accurate records, and keep company vehicles in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate company vehicles requiring a Class B CDL to transport materials between local plants and facilities.
  • Verify load accuracy and ensure proper securement of materials for transport.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety issues immediately.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies at all times.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and plant personnel regarding load status and delivery schedules.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean and in proper working condition.

Qualifications:
  • Required:
    • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT standards.
