Job description

As a Wastewater Operator, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the wastewater treatment (WWT) system at the Gainesville facilities. This role involves performing various laboratory and field tests to ensure safe working conditions and producing top-quality output with minimal disruptions. Effective communication with co-workers, superiors, and other teams/departments is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the WWT system
  • Perform various laboratory and field tests to ensure quality results
  • Monitor, calculate, and adjust chemical dosages within the WWT system
  • Assist with chemical loading and off-loading (bulk and tote)
  • Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection, loading, and documentation
  • Utilize power washers and other tools to clean WWT equipment thoroughly
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot pumps, tools, chemical streams, and other equipment to prevent safety, environmental, quality, or productivity issues
  • Respond to major spills as a member of the spill response team
  • Conduct periodic safety and quality risk assessments and lead or assist with implementing corrective actions to lower risks
  • Maintain a 5S compliant workstation
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Perform special projects and related tasks as needed

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Active GA WWT Operator License (Industrial/Class 3 or greater)
  • English language competency and legible writing ability
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic chemistry skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to obtain Kubota LOTO, Confined Space Entry certification within 90 days
  • Ability to obtain Kubota sit down forklift certification within 90 days
  • Successful PFT evaluation or ability to pass the PFT requirement within 90 days
  • HAZWOPER and DOT certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in confined spaces
  • Experience conducting laboratory tests (titrations, metal concentrations, etc.)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
