The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking to hire nine (9) enthusiastic, technically minded student assistants to work for the Government Claims Program (GCP) within the DGS Office of Risk and Insurance Management. State law requires anyone who wishes to sue the state to first file an administrative claim with the GCP, which determines the merit of such claims and maintains digital records of them for possible use in litigation.
The GCP recently completed a major scanning project and has over 200,000 document images, which need to be collated, converted to PDFs with Optical Character Recognition, and saved in a digital database. The student assistant team will also answer phone calls from claimants and other state departments, conduct research, and coordinate with the GCP's analyst team to provide responses to inquiries. This is important work that serves the public, so if you are enthusiastic, service-oriented, and comfortable using cloud-based applications, such as Adobe Acrobat, the Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint, this might be a great job for you.
Don't settle for busy work! Apply for a job in GCP and gain real experience that will help prepare you for a career after you graduate.
