Demolition and Facade Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Demolition and Facade Superintendent to lead and deliver complex facade remediation, replacement and demolition projects. The role is responsible for day-to-day on-site supervision of demolition and facade installation activities, site logistics planning, subcontractor coordination, safety and quality assurance, schedule and budget control, permit compliance and client communication. The Superintendent will ensure work is executed safely, on time, and to specification while minimizing disruption to occupants and the public.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site management of demolition, facade installation and remediation activities from mobilization through closeout, ensuring work meets design, contract and safety requirements.
  • Develop, implement and enforce comprehensive site logistics, access, rigging and suspended platform plans to sequence work, protect the public and maintain productivity.
  • Coordinate and supervise multiple subcontractors and trades; schedule daily work, resolve conflicts and ensure subcontractor compliance with site rules and quality standards.
  • Prepare, review and manage shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and technical documentation; liaise with designers, engineers and project management to resolve technical issues.
  • Manage permits, inspections and regulatory compliance (including demolition permits, environmental containment and traffic/pedestrian protection) and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Implement and enforce site safety programs and OSHA/site-specific requirements, conduct toolbox talks, oversee fall-protection, scaffold erection/inspection, rope access and confined work procedures.
  • Oversee QA/QC inspections, punch lists and closeout activities; document completion, deficiencies and remedial work to achieve client acceptance.
  • Monitor schedule and budget: update MS Project schedules, identify critical path items, track labor/equipment costs, prepare change orders and assist with cost estimating.
  • Plan and supervise heavy equipment operations, rigging and hoisting activities, crane signaling, concrete cutting, selective demolition, shoring and underpinning as required by the scope.
  • Implement environmental controls including dust control, containment, lead/asbestos abatement procedures and waste handling to meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with BIM/Revit, AutoCAD and field layout teams to ensure accurate installation of curtain wall, glazing, stone cladding, metal panel, EIFS and masonry systems.
  • Provide daily and weekly reporting, maintain site logs, RFI records and communicate progress to project management, clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and supervise on-site foremen and craft personnel, enforce productivity standards and promote continuous improvement and safe work culture.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive field experience in demolition and facade installation with demonstrated superintendent-level responsibility.
  • Proven hands-on experience in demolition, facade systems (curtain wall, glazing, stone cladding, metal panel systems, EIFS, masonry restoration) and remediation work.
  • Strong site logistics planning and subcontractor coordination experience on urban, occupied and constrained sites.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and local safety regulations, fall protection systems, scaffold erection/inspection, and suspended access procedures.
  • Experience with permits acquisition/compliance, traffic/pedestrian protection planning and environmental containment (dust, lead/asbestos) procedures.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, shop drawings and submittals; working knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM/Revit coordination preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Project scheduling, QA/QC inspections, cost estimating, change order management and project closeout procedures.
  • Experience with heavy equipment operations (excavator, skid steer), concrete cutting/core drilling, structural stabilization, shoring/underpinning and rigging/hoisting is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, Fall Protection, Scaffold Competent Person, Rigging/Signaling and relevant trade tickets are preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; ability to produce clear site reports, RFIs and client updates.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to work in variable site conditions; willingness to travel between job sites as required.
