Overview
Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Civil Superintendent in Springfield, VA to join our team.
The pay range for this position is $175,000.00 - $220,000.00 annually. The pay range for this position is for the project assignment at Franconia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Collaborate frequently with project team, client representatives, utility companies, and subcontractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, forecast and assume responsibility for onsite production functions including maintaining schedule, verification of compliance, engineering, budget, equipment needs, material and equipment control.
  • Provide technical assistance through interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, specifications and standards.
  • Coordinates project close out activities in line with project standards and Owner checklist requirements.
  • Supervise and ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, environmental compliance, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Construction Management/Civil Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years in civil construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of civil construction (technology, equipment, methods); engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.

  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
