Job description

Civil Structural Engineer – Contract Opportunity | San Antonio, TX | $45–$50/Hour


Reliance One is seeking an experienced Civil Structural Engineer for a contract opportunity supporting complex industrial and manufacturing construction projects in San Antonio, Texas. This Civil Structural Engineer role is ideal for an engineering professional with a strong background in structural design, construction management, and industrial facility projects.


You will work closely with contractors, equipment vendors, project managers, facilities teams, and manufacturing groups to support building system design, construction, installation, inspections, commissioning, and project closeout.


Position Details:

Civil Structural Engineer Responsibilities:

• Facilitate building system design, startup, and commissioning activities

• Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering drawings, specifications, and contractor RFIs

• Provide technical expertise related to structural and building systems

• Coordinate with contractors and equipment vendors on steel detailing, inspections, delivery, installation, erection, and project handover

• Support construction activities involving prefabricated buildings, structural steel, trusses, mezzanines, foundations, concrete columns, slab-on-grade construction, and industrial facilities

• Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, facilities teams, and manufacturing operations

• Conduct ongoing work progress inspections and field observations

• Support construction administration, including schedule coordination, quality verification, coordination meetings, and planned utility outages

• Inspect building systems and construction work for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes

• Oversee foundation, steel, and general contractors to ensure adherence to project schedules, milestones, and delivery requirements

• Prepare field engineering status reports detailing project progress and schedule updates for Project Managers

• Provide technical input to improve project specifications, engineering standards, and construction processes

• Maintain strong communication with contractors, vendors, engineers, and project stakeholders

• Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines and milestones


Required Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a major in Civil or Structural Engineering

• 2+ years of construction management experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural design and/or installation

• Experience developing design criteria for industrial building systems

• Automotive experience supporting engine, transmission, vehicle facilities, or similar industrial manufacturing environments

• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements

• Knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards, including IBC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, and FM

• Strong organizational, communication, and schedule management skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Teams
