Position Summary:

KOA has a current opening at our Duluth office for an experienced Professional Electrical Engineer that will develop a diverse portfolio of electrical engineering projects with a focus on the design, construction, and maintenance of complex electrical systems. The successful candidate will utilize their experience expertise in the field of electrical engineering to provide solutions to a diverse clientele that includes multinational industry leaders.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform calculations related to the sizing and installation of electrical equipment including: MCCโ€™s, lighting, circuit breakers, motors, transformers, wiring systems, switchgear, and grounding systems.
  • Utilize the National Electrical Code, IEEE standards, and requirements of insurers in the development of electrical designs at industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Develop detailed equipment specifications for electrical distribution equipment, MCCโ€™s, Drives, low voltage field devices, instrumentation, lighting, circuit protection, and power monitoring equipment.
  • Design power distribution and grounding systems up to 15kV.
  • Develop motor and process control documents including loop and motor elementary drawings.
  • Prepare proposals, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for engineering projects.
  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations on proposed and ongoing projects to internal staff and clients.
  • Mentor and oversee junior engineers and technicians.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews throughout the design development process.
  • Work directly with clients to develop project options and alternatives, provide engineering guidance for project planning and development, field investigations, and critical issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design
  • Knowledge and application of the principles and practices of CAD development and creation of drawing packages at various stages of design development

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience performing power coordination and arc flash studies, and develop single line drawings using SKM, ETAP or Easy Power.
  • Experience developing design packages, P&ID's, and alternatives from concept to issued for construction using AutoCAD Electrical or Revit software packages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project lifecycle and ability to manage complex engineering and multidiscipline projects in the context of electrical design inputs and information requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with Krech Ojard staff, individuals from other organizations, and client representatives.

Compensation:

Depending on the successful candidates background and experience, compensation for this position will include an annual base salary in the range of $80,000 โ€“ $120,000 per year. Offers for employment take the candidateโ€™s education, experience, technical skill, and expertise into consideration.
