Bring your structural engineering expertise to the front end of construction. Nucor Buildings Group is seeking a Quote (Structural) Engineer to support custom metal building projects from concept to quote. In this technical role, you'll apply structural and architectural engineering principles to design safe, economical building systems that win business and solve real-world problems.

Basic Job Functions:
  • Collaborate with Estimating and Sales Teams: Develop thorough, accurate designs for metal building system quotes that align with project specs and internal standards.
  • Value Engineer Building Solutions: Identify design and fabrication strategies that improve performance and reduce costs, providing a competitive edge for NBG and our Builders.
  • Manage Quote Schedules and Deadlines: Balance priorities across multiple stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of quote packages.
  • Create Economical, Safe Designs: Partner with all NBG divisions to develop project solutions that minimize total installed cost while meeting safety and performance requirements. Be aware of the economic impacts of decisions based upon metal building price, erection concerns and total in-place cost of construction.
  • Deliver Clear and Accurate Design Documentation: Provide well-documented, qualified building design details to support the Estimating Departmentโ€™s workflow.
  • Offer Technical Expertise: Communicate design and engineering recommendations clearly via phone, email, or in-person meetings with internal and external partners.
  • Evaluate Project Risk and Scope: Assess custom or non-standard building requirements for business risk, product feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support Division-Wide Collaboration: Contribute to the broader Commercial Services team by providing engineering insight and technical guidance.
  • Travel Occasionally: Be available for occasional travel as project needs require.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4-yr Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering degree from an EAC ABET accredited institution
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Effective with the English language using both verbal and written skills
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship both now and in the future. Nucor is unable to provide sponsorship for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree emphasis in Structures
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Previous experience in design of low-rise steel buildings
