Job Description

ProSidian Seeks a Civil Site Engineer - Engineering headquartered near Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina to support an engagement for Nuclear Energy Sector Clients The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte. 

This *** | Exempt position currently best aligns with the Civil Site Engineer DS 106 Labor Category and ideal candidates exhibit the ability to visualize, analyze, and convert data and experiences to meet performance challenges while confidently engaging in productive "Jugaad" and dialogue targeting mission success.  ProSidian Team Members work to provide temporary staffing support services to support Savannah River Remediation (SRR), the Liquid Waste (LW) Contractor located at the Department of Energy Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC 29808.  Services anticipated includes storage, integration, treatment and disposition of the liquid radioactive waste being managed at the Savannah River Site (DOE).

Provide design and construction oversight of civil engineering tasks (i.e., site grading, utilities, drainage and hydraulic structures) on assigned SRR Engineering Teams. Civil engineering tasks include: development of hydrologic storm runoff calculations and hydraulic calculations; preparation of site drainage and runoff detention calculations; design of site paving, grading, and soil erosion control; design of roadway and pavement; routing and design of underground utilities; preparation of earthwork quantities; preparation of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) specifications; and review of vendor documents.

Individual at times will be required to travel off Site to interface with vendors, fabricators and other Engineering organizations.

Engineering services will be provided using SRR processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRR.

Qualifications

BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering

Experience /Skills:

Candidate must demonstrate three (3) years experience in design and construction oversight of civil engineering tasks. Candidate must have the ability to prepare CSI specifications. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of 2D Microstation CADD and HydroCad and must be familiar with Inroads. Candidate must have the ability to prepare hydrologic storm runoff calculations and hydraulic calculations, site drainage and runoff detention calculations, and earthwork quantities. Candidate must have the ability to design site paving, grading and soil erosion control, and to route and design underground utilities. Candidate must have the ability to prepare design and fabrication drawings and walk down systems in the field. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AASHTO, SCDHEC, RCRA, and CERCLA.

Work Hours:

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, fives days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRR holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.
