Job description

Description
The Opportunity
Alpha Inc. is looking for a Civil Project Manager who can run the work, own the numbers, protect the schedule, and keep the field moving without losing sight of the people doing the work.
This is not a "forward emails and attend meetings" project management role.
This is heavy civil. Real dirt. Real deadlines. Real dollars. Real accountability.
You'll be trusted to manage projects from bid to closeout - cost, schedule, quality, documentation, subcontractors, clients, change orders, risk, and results. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and field crews to turn plans into progress and progress into profitable, high-quality work.
If you know how to bring order to chaos, hold the line on standards, communicate before problems become disasters, and lead with both backbone and humility - this may be your next move.
About Alpha Inc.
Alpha Inc. is a Hawai'i-based leader in heavy civil construction, drilling, renewable energy, concrete, infrastructure, and related services. The company's work supports resilient infrastructure, local communities, and Hawai'i's future through construction, drilling, renewable energy, and concrete solutions.
Alpha's Civil division provides comprehensive site preparation and civil construction services throughout Hawai'i, including land clearing, mass excavation, precision grading, underground utilities, water lines, sewer systems, storm drainage, electrical, and power infrastructure.
We live by three core values that shape how we lead and operate:
  • Leading with Heart - We teach, learn, listen, and treat people with respect.
  • Strength in Unity - We win as one crew, across departments, disciplines, and jobsites.
  • Alpha Mentality - We bring grit, accountability, and a relentless drive to improve.

What You Will Do
  • As Civil Project Manager, you'll be the person making sure the project doesn't drift, stall, bleed money, or lose the standard.
  • You will lead the project from start to finish, managing cost, schedule, quality, safety, documentation, and communication. You'll oversee project performance and profit/loss, making sure the work is executed with discipline and completed successfully.
  • You'll generate, review, and approve estimates, subcontracts, change orders, purchase orders, and related project documents. You'll monitor budgets closely, forecast accurately, and take action early when cost or scope starts to move.
  • You'll build, review, and maintain project schedules, keeping milestones visible and teams aligned. When weather, site conditions, material delays, or field realities challenge the plan, you'll adjust with urgency and clarity.
  • You'll monitor field progress and verify that work is performed in compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, quality standards, legal requirements, and Alpha expectations.
  • You'll collaborate daily with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders to keep resources aligned and issues moving toward resolution.
  • You'll communicate project status, risks, changes, and solutions before people have to chase you for answers.
  • You'll identify risks early, solve problems fast, negotiate change orders when needed, and protect both the client relationship and Alpha's margin.
  • You'll maintain clean, accurate project documentation, including progress reports, budget updates, forecasts, approvals, and closeout materials.
  • You'll address jobsite disputes, coordination breakdowns, and operational challenges directly - with professionalism, urgency, and the kind of leadership that keeps people moving forward.
  • And you'll help lead and mentor project team members, holding yourself and others accountable to the standard.

What You Bring
  • You are organized, field-aware, financially sharp, and calm when the job gets loud.
  • You don't need perfect conditions to perform. You know construction is controlled chaos - and you know how to control your part of it.
Experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in civil construction or project management, preferably with a focus on heavy civil projects.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, documentation, subcontractors, clients, and field coordination.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities without letting details fall through the cracks.
Education
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent hands-on construction/project management experience may be considered.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and construction management/accounting software preferred.
Leadership & Mindset
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Solid understanding of heavy civil construction processes, sequencing, field operations, safety, and quality control.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust with clients, crews, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort owning outcomes - not excuses.

Most importantly, you embody:
  • Leading with Heart - You lead people with respect, even when the pressure is high.
  • Strength in Unity - You align the field, office, client, and subcontractors around the mission.
  • Alpha Mentality - You take ownership, chase excellence, and finish what you start.

Why Alpha?
At Alpha Inc., you won't just manage construction projects - you'll help build the infrastructure Hawai'i depends on.
You'll join a company that invests in people, equipment, training, technology, and the future of the islands. Alpha's careers page emphasizes cultivating top talent, staying on the cutting edge of technology, and investing in tools, equipment, and training programs.
This is a place for people who want to do meaningful work, build strong teams, and leave behind projects they're proud to point to.
Benefits & Perks
Alpha Inc. offers a competitive benefits package designed to support you and your family, including:
  • 100% company-paid Medical/Dental/Vision (family coverage)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) (vacation, personal, and sick time) that increases with tenure

  • Weekly pay
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Eligible after 1 month of service (age 18+), with a Safe Harbor match (100% on the first 3%, 50% on the next 2%) with immediate vesting.
  • Life & AD&D insurance (company-paid, with family coverage)

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) (24/7 confidential support)
  • Tuition reimbursement (up to $500/year)
  • Company-provided equipment (role dependent)
  • Additional perks (Aflac supplemental coverage + employee discounts)
  • Employee Ambassador Program: A dedicated, real-human support resource to help you navigate life's challenges-personal or professional-by connecting you to guidance, resources, and solutions when you need them most.

Benefits eligibility may vary based on role and employment status.
