Advance Testing Company, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to work on projects in the Northeastern United States.


Advance Testing, an established New York-based construction materials testing and inspection firm, performs testing and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry and asphalt. Typical assignments include projects related to construction of roads, bridges, airports, tunnels, commercial and industrial buildings, schools, government and military sites, and material fabrication and production facilities.


Successful candidates will be trained and certified to perform sampling and testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt materials for construction sites in a laboratory setting through locally and nationally recognized programs. Once trained and certified, employees are considered full-fledged Laboratory Technicians.

Laboratory Technician - Responsibilities


  • Perform standard concrete/masonry testing and soils/aggregate testing on materials to ensure the material meets the required specifications.
  • Mix, sample and test concrete and mortars; handle freshly produced concrete and mortars to perform tests for engineering properties.
  • Perform soil testing and sampling procedures in accordance with various industry standards, including ASTM, AASHTO, OCOE, and DOT standardized testing methods.
  • Other related duties as assigned


Requirements

Laboratory Technician - Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or similar OR coursework toward a BS in Civil Engineering
  • Experience in construction materials testing or construction industry preferred (training provided)
  • Strong focus on safe work practices and adherence to all safety protocols
  • Strong safety focus, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Valid, clean driver's license required

Salary Range - $18-20 per hour


All positions may require lifting and/or physical activities, including lifting of up to 75 lbs., walking/working on uneven surfaces, and driving to and from job sites. The majority of our laboratory work is conducted indoors but occasionally it may be outdoors, in all weather conditions. Work hours vary, but include day, night and weekend shifts.
