Job description

AIM Engineering Consultants have an immediate need for Engineering Technicians with experience to perform a variety of technical duties and provide administrative support to the project team including civil 3D drafting, basic design, research, project coordination, client communication, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering drawings, exhibits, plans, and other documents
  • Provide engineering support to project teams and managers
  • Interface and coordinate with other engineers, outside agency staff, utility company staff, and/or the private development community
  • Perform technical planning and research, basic design approach, and the layout of assigned projects including civil, electrical mechanical, and hydraulic provisions         
  • Prepare engineering drawings, contract specifications, and cost estimates      
  • Review a variety of construction plans, as built drawings, and cost estimates for compliance and/or consistency with project specifications and requirements        
  • Perform roadway, building, landscaping, and other project drafting, including structural detailing for final plans               
  • Perform sub-professional engineering, architectural, and landscape architectural studies of moderate difficulty for projects  
  • Operate and utilize a variety of specialized software programs relevant to work performed        
  • Prepare graphical documents for reports and presentations     
  • Organize, acquire, and maintain office records and file information      
  • Review planning applications, traffic impact analysis reports, grading permits, subdivision maps, and street improvement plans for private development projects in accordance with adopted policies and agency standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering/technical support experience of which two (2) years of experience includes drafting, developing plans, specifications, estimates (PS&E), and construction or infrastructure inspections, traffic engineering, and/or field surveying.
  • AA or B.S. in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Design Technology, Engineering Technology or related field from an ABET-accredited curriculum or equivalent plus appropriate continuing education
  • Candidate should be familiar with basic engineering and surveying terms and methods along with an understanding of the use of pertinent computer software, which includes AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Must have strong communication skills and be team-oriented
