Civil Engineering helps shape the landform and infrastructure throughout our communities. Whether it's site engineering for a new transit-oriented development, paving improvements for a residential HOA, flood resiliency for a coastal community, streetscape for Main Street, or athletic fields in a public park, H2M's civil engineers prepare quality designs that are economical and sustainable.
H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Suffern, NY seeks Project Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department.
Job Responsibilities
  • Design and coordination of work on multidiscipline projects ranging from due diligence/site feasibility studies, site engineering, through regulatory approvals and full permitting.
  • Develop site layout and design, including site grading and storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, erosion and sediment control.
  • Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and be knowledgeable of NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements.
  • Perform project administration including writing reports, gathering information, writing proposals & correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports.
  • Prepare engineer's opinion of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids.
  • Coordinate with other engineering and architectural departments within the firm.
  • Communicate directly with clients in support and coordination of all project activities.
  • Responsible for the on-time, on budget, high quality technical delivery of all project requirements.

Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, Autoturn, Excel, and Photoshop.
  • Design experience with a specific focus on site development or municipal engineering projects
  • Thorough understanding of the entitlement processes on Long Island.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas.
  • Familiarity with the design of public infrastructure and public bidding process.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within project teams.
  • Team-spirited, focused and able to make independent decisions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • EIT/PE desired.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications - not related to any applicant's characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.
