Job Summary: Your Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager role will include building and managing relationships with in-house teams and contractors while providing design and consulting services that are needed by facility managers and owners. The types of projects that you will work on will include:

Responsibilities:

  • Listen to our clients’ needs and independently provide value to them by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost.
  • Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary.
  • Work alone on projects or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail new systems that are needed, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
  • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
  • Participate in on site observations, information gathering, and interaction with clients and contractors both during the design and construction phases of the projects to represent Salas O’Brien in the field.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed.
  • Work as part of a multi disciplined design team for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Work as part of a team with other engineers and designers to develop project deliverables.
  • Perform Civil design calculations following office standards.
  • Stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience is desired.
  • Applicants must have a working knowledge of Civil analysis and design software (specifically Civil 3D preferred).
  • A Professional Engineering license is required.
  • Overall site planning
  • Site grading and volume calculations
  • Stormwater management design
  • Stormwater pollution control systems
  • Site thermal piping distribution
  • Pressure and gravity distribution systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D design tools
  • Site electrical and telecommunications raceway design.
  • Develop specification documents
  • Roadway and parking design

This opportunity is intended to be a hybrid position (3 days in the office/2 days remote) but other arrangements will be considered depending upon the qualifications and circumstances of the applicant.

Location: Bloomfield, CT/Newton, MA (Hybrid)

Travel: Up to 10%

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $140,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
