Your opportunity  

Dillonโ€™s Land Development Business Unit is looking for a Civil Engineer/Designer to fill an existing vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. 

This position is based at our Vaughan office. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life. 


What your day will look like

  • Prepare various preliminary engineering and detailed design activities, including Infill projects, mixed use and residential high-rise, earthwork analysis, road and parking lot design, site grading, sewer design and analysis, and watermain design
  • Produce drawings and reports that clearly communicate the design intention and produce well-organized professional looking deliverables
  • Participate in the monitoring of project schedules and design costs, and communicate pertinent project information to Project Manager, municipalities and staff assigned to projects
  • Assist in the preparation of Quantity Calculations, Cost Estimates, and various contract administration duties as required 
  • Assist with design tasks including report preparation, hydraulic sewer modeling, watermain calculations, functional servicing report preparation, stormwater and sanitary management calculations
  • Perform project coordination and design related duties as assigned by Project Manager
  • Keep project design records and files

Learning & Development

  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillonโ€™s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

What you will need to succeed

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a relatable degree
  • P.Eng is an asset but not a requirement
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Subdivision and Site Plan Design
  • A working knowledge of Stormwater Management practices and techniques

  • 5+ years experience in the Civil/Land Development Sector
  • Experience working on projects in the city of Toronto 
  • Experience in sewer design and the hydraulic analysis of sewer systems is preferred
  • Experience in designing Site Plan and Subdivisions within a dense Urban Environment
  • An intuitive understanding of the design parameters to be able to anticipate the governing design constraints for a project and an ability to creatively overcome these constraints to optimize a design

Compensation

$82,000 - $115,000

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicantโ€™s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicantโ€™s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
