Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Civil/Site E.I.T. to join our team in Allentown, PA!


A Civil/Site Engineering Designer is a key member of the Civil/Site design team. An Engineering Designer is responsible for various technical aspects of land development projects including, but not limited to: site feasibility and conceptual planning, detailed grading, drainage designs and profiles, stormwater management, designing Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control (E&SPC) Best Management Practices (BMPs), and other regulatory items. Our Engineering Designers (Civil E.I.T.'s) work within AutoCAD Civil 3D as well as other engineering software alongside the other design team members to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design.
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs.
  • Utilize Autocad Civil 3D on a daily basis.
  • Research design options and document findings for project manager.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs.
  • Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations (PA).
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion.
  • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
