Job description

Job#: 3042405
Job Description:
Site Operations Lead
Location: Columbiana, Alabama (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Construction Site Leader to own the delivery of a data center campus from active construction through commissioning and handover. This role requires the ability to coordinate day-to-day activities across general contractors, MEP contractors, security vendors, and equipment suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in either electrical or mechanical systems to provide technical oversight and represent the organization to enterprise and hyperscaler customers. This position will oversee all day-to-day construction site activities as the on-site personnel ramps to approximately 300 individuals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day execution of data center construction projects at the site, including current build-outs and future phases.
  • Coordinate general contractors, MEP consultants, civil contractors, utility providers, security vendors, and technology suppliers.
  • Lead daily standups, weekly project reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Manage schedules, risk, dependencies, budgets, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Validate contractor and subcontractor billing against contracted scope, code, and site records.
  • Present credibly and hold technical ground with enterprise and hyperscaler customers and their technical teams.
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, networking, security, and monitoring systems.
  • Oversee the deployment of DCIM, physical security, and facility monitoring solutions.
  • Document site emergency and incident response procedures for handover to the operations team.
  • Track project status and report clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Take ownership of future site build-outs as the company expands, reducing dependency on external construction management vendors.
  • Use modern project management, collaboration, and AI tools to improve delivery and team productivity.
  • Be open to relocation or travel for the company.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years managing data center, mission-critical, or industrial construction projects, including experience at hyperscale or enterprise AI infrastructure scale.
  • Deep, hands-on domain expertise in electrical or mechanical systems for mission-critical facilities; civil-construction-only backgrounds are not a fit for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing GCs, MEP firms, civil contractors, and specialty vendors on live construction sites.
  • Strong track record of presenting to and building trust with enterprise or hyperscaler clients and their technical staff.
  • Experience validating contractor billing against contracted scope.
  • Experience with Procore, Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Slack, or similar tools.
  • Comfortable using AI tools for productivity, documentation, reporting, and coordination.
  • Experience running daily standups, tracking risk, and driving accountability across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience as an owner's or employer's representative on data center or mission-critical builds.
  • Familiarity with DCIM, physical security, commissioning, and facility infrastructure.
  • Experience working with technology companies, hyperscalers, AI companies, or enterprise off-takers.
  • PMP, Agile, or Scrum certification.
